AVA Photo Contest 2008
The Albany Visitors Association is sponsoring a photography contest. It is open to photographers of all skill levels. Awards will be given to winners in each of five categories and cash awards will be given to grand prize winners. There will also be an award for Peoples Choice. Photos will be displayed in a gallery show at the Two Rivers Market in March and April and in a summer display at City Hall, put on by the Albany Arts Commission. Selected photos from this contest may be used for promotional purposes, such as inclusion in the new Discover Albany brochure, to promote tourism in Albany and the region. Deadline for submissions is 5:00 pm Wednesday, March 12, 2008. RULES:
1) All photos must have been taken within last three (3) years.
2) All images must be photographed in Albany (to include North Albany) and/or Linn County.
3) Photos must be either 8×10 or 81/2 x 11 - - NO EXCEPTIONS.
4) All entries must be mounted (on material at least 1/8 inch thick), no frames or matting allowed.
5) Each entry must have a completed label on reverse, placed at top rear of entry. Label must include
photographer name, address, phone number, e-mail(if applicable), photo title and category entered.
Description, location and date taken are preferred but optional.
7) There is an entry fee of $2.00 for each photo submitted, payable at time of entry (cash or check only).
8) All entrants must be able to submit, upon request, photo in digitized format for promotional purposes,
by Friday, March 21, 2008.
9) The Albany Visitors Association is not responsible for lost, damaged or stolen photos; or for any
photos left after close of business on April 12.
10) Submitted images must not have been used in other media prior to this contest.
11) Photos may be either color or black & white.
12) Photos may be digitally enhanced but not digitally manipulated.
13) All photos must be picked up by close of business April 12. The photo display ends at
5:00 pm April 9. Photos may be claimed starting on April 10.
14) Selected entrants will be required to sign a release allowing the AVA to use their photos for
promotional purposes. Photo credit will be given whenever possible if and when photos are
used. Photographers retain all rights to their photos.
15) Photographers must be able to furnish, upon request, a signed photo release for any photo that
prominently features an individual or group of individuals.
16) All photos must be entrants own original work.
17) NOTE: All entries must be submitted to the AVA office at 250 Broadalbin St., Suite 110 in
downtown Albany in the Two Rivers Market by 5:00 pm Wednesday, March 12, 2008.
