Grand Prize winner!!!!
The Albany Visitors Association and the Shutterbug are pleased to announce the winners of their 1st annual photography contest. The Grand Prize winner of this year’s contest is Tim Sperry of Corvallis, who received a Nikon CoolPix digital camera for his photo titled “Willamette at Night”. Oliver J. Anderson of Albany was awarded 2nd place for his photo titled “Waverly Curves”. Other winners included Hal Schalles and Nancy Schalles both of Albany and Shawn Wells of Lebanon. Prizes for the contest were furnished by The Shutterbug. The final award winner, for People’s Choice, has yet to be determined. The public is invited to vote for their favorite photo and choose the People’s Choice award winner. The photos are on display at Two Rivers Market in downtown Albany and can be voted on there. Many of these photos will be used in marketing campaigns and promotional pieces for the community. Voting ends on April 18. Photographers are invited to begin taking pictures throughout the coming year in anticipation of next year’s contest. The categories will be the same as this year: Scenic, Landmarks, Events, Life in our Community and Open. Enter to win and help promote Albany and our region.
March 21 – April 9, 2008– Photos will be displayed, at the discretion of contest organizers, at Two Rivers Market. April 10-12– Photos can be picked up at the AVA office. The AVA is not responsible for any photos left after April 12. Summer of 2008– Selected photos will appear in a community art show sponsored by the Albany Arts Commission at Albany City Hall. The show theme will be local photographers view of Albany and the surrounding community.
