Albany is a thriving community of businesses, industry, and agriculture. Industries like wood products, food processing, and manufactured homes production are all located here. Albany is known as the rare metals capitol of the world due to the number of companies that produce zirconium, hafnium, and titanium.
The fertile Willamette Valley is what prompted the pioneers to come to Oregon in the 1800s. Albany is located in the middle of that fertile valley. Farmers in the surrounding areas grow crops like corn, beans, mint, hazel nuts, and grass seed. The rich valley floor truly is the “promised land” the early settlers dreamed of.
