Jet Sprint Boat Races

Oregon Jet Sprint Boat race

If you like high-speed thrills and turns, the sport of Jet Sprint Boat racing is for you! In 2014, the world championships of this event will be held just outside of Albany, Oregon, at the Global Jet Sprint Track in Lebanon.

For more information about Albany Sprint Boat Racing and the World Series in Lebanon, Oregon or to buy tickets to upcoming races, visit the Oregon Jet Sprint website and Facebook page.

The championship races in Lebanon are held from Aug. 30-Sept. 1, 2014. Camping is available onsite for $20, and tickets can be purchased through Tickets West.

Sprint boat racers consist of a two-person team, a driver and a navigator. The teams must pilot their lightweight boats through a narrow track full of sharp twists and turns, accelerating at high speeds.

The sport originated in New Zealand, and now takes place in New Zealand, Australia, and the U.S. The track in Lebanon replaces a previous Albany-area track, the Field of Dreams track in Tangent, Oregon. The Lebanon track is one of the few permanent sprint boat races in the U.S.
