The annual “Cut the Gut” car cruise in Sweet Home, Oregon!
This event is a must-attend for all enthusiasts of hot rods, motorcycles, classics, and muscle cars. The cruise takes place every year on the Friday night of the second weekend of July and attracts car lovers from all over the region.
The “Cut the Gut” car cruise is more than just a celebration of vehicles – it’s a chance for car enthusiasts to come together, share their passion, and enjoy a fun-filled night in the beautiful town of Sweet Home.
This cruise features over 20 checkpoints from one end of Sweet Home to the other. At each stop, participants will have their passports stamped for a chance to win a raffle prize.
Participants are encouraged to bring their best rides to show off, and spectators are encouraged to sit along the route to watch the show. So whether you own a classic car, a hot rod, a motorcycle, a muscle car, or simply like to look at them, this is the night for you!

2 Stages. 25 Shows. 1 Sweet Weekend. All in the foothills of the scenic Cascade Mountains, Sweet Home, Oregon. The venue is situated on more than 20 acres that include the historic Weddle Covered Bridge. Its big festival atmosphere is evident at the main stage but provides a more intimate concert experience at the second stage in Sankey Park. In addition to featured headline entertainment, you can park your RV or tent camp on-site and enjoy the vendors, food booths, beer and wine gardens, and a variety of other attractions. Come to the Native American Cultural Encampments summer of 2024, with Deitrich Peters and friends. The public is invited to come learn about Native culture, explore handcrafts and items for sale, watch the Pow-wow style dancing (there is usually one dance where you are invited to participate) and practice traditional skills and crafts. Listen to some beautiful flute playing, enjoy stories, and explore the drum and more. Many different tribes are represented at these gatherings.
SCEC will be there with a table showing Kalapuya Ways items of material culture, and presenting different crafts classes and atlatl throwing. Karen Rainsong, our Executive Director, presents this teaching and may also tell a few Kalapuya stories.
On Sunday mid afternoon there is a big feast where everyone can eat for free. “Indian tacos” are served. No need to RSVP. Please join the fun!
