Lori Garcy, metalsmith and Bill Origer, photographer join forces for a color explosion. Their work is featured at Gallery Calapooia August 1 through 26. Opening reception is August 4.
Brownsville metalsmith Lori Garcy has a long-time love affair with color. She explores color applications on her new silver and copper jewelry. Her techniques include electroplating, nanoceramic plating, enameling, powder coating, inks and paints, and patina. Albany photographer Bill Origer shows a collection from various times and places: a Greenland iceberg, reflections on the Ganges River and the Arctic Ocean, coastal driftwood, a house in Ecuador, a muddy lake bed and many more from over a decade of photography. Bill’s photos are a mix of reality and fantasy; some of his whimsical hues having been computer generated. All the photos were chosen to match, complement, and contrast with Lori’s brilliantly colored jewelry.
