Christmas Storybookland

Christmas Storybookland is a beloved Albany holiday tradition unlike any you’ll find elsewhere. Young children will be enchanted by glowing displays of Christmas trees, elaborate model trains and dollhouses, and the star attraction: 85 hand-created displays of favorite nursery rhyme and fairy tale scenes. Singing penguins, elves from the North Pole, a teddy bear village and more await visitors as they wander through Christmas Storybookland. At the end of the experience, kids can visit with Mr. and Mrs. Claus at their North Pole home.

Held every December at the Linn County Fair and Expo Center, admission to Christmas Storybookland is free, although donations of canned food (given to the local non-profit FISH of Albany) are welcome. It’s open to visitors of all ages–more than 25,000 people attend Christmas Storybookland annually.

An Albany tradition for nearly 40 years, Christmas Storybookland is a labor of love by devoted Albany residents who maintain the scenes, create new displays, set up and tear down the event each year, and volunteer during the holiday season each year.
