Local Government
The City of Albany exercises its powers through a home rule charter under a Council-Manager management style. A directly elected non-partisan Mayor with a two-year term leads a six-member, non-partisan City Council who are elected to four-year, overlapping terms. A full-time City Manager administers the affairs of the city for the Council.

Albany is the largest city in Linn County and the courthouse located here is the center for county business.
