Boating and Jet Skiing

Boating and jet skiing are two popular ways to spend a sunny afternoon in the Albany area. The Willamette River flows right through town, and the city of Albany maintains boat launches at Takena Landing and Bowman Park. Jet skiing and water skiing on the river are allowed, but especially in late summer, boaters must watch out for shallow stretches. Check out Oregon’s Willamette River Guide (PDF) or the Willamette Water Trail guide for detailed river information.

Two popular lakes for water sports are located in the eastern half of Linn County. Foster Reservoir is a 1,220 acre lake just on the edge of Sweet Home, featuring boat launches and a marina, as well as a great picnicking and protected swimming area at Lewis Creek County Park. Just a few miles farther is Green Peter Reservoir, a 3,720 acre lake with several boat launches and popular Sunnyside Campground. Both lakes are perfect locations for wakeboarding, tubing,  water skiing, and jet skiing.
