Welcome to AVA’s monthly calendar of events. Take a peek and plan your stay-cation or your next visit to our region. The city’s most notable annual events include historic home tours, outdoor summer concerts and movies under the stars, and the Northwest Art and Air Festival.

Start Time: 11:00am | Location: Meet at the Daly Lake Parking Area
Difficulty: Depends on Experience | Paddle boards, kayaks, equipment NOT provided
Enjoy a day of paddling Daly Lake and
conducting a biological inventory
of the lake. Activities will include
aquatic insect monitoring, amphibian
monitoring, fishing, and riparian
inventory. Life jackets are required to be
worn at all times. Bring all of the things
listed for the general hikes as well as a
Northwest Forest Pass (day or annual)
for your vehicle, your kayak/paddleboard,
paddle, wading shoes, fishing
license and fishing gear (if you wish to
fish). Kayaks over 10 feet in length are
required to have an Aquatic Invasive
Species permit. There is a ¼ mile hike
in to the lake on a well maintained allaccess
trail, so be prepared to portage a
short distance. Limit of 12 participants.

This eight hour hands-on class is a great way to learn how to stay alive in the woods of Western
Oregon. Learn how to start a fire with very little. Gain knowledge and learn skills to save lives. We
will be outside of the office half of the day so dress accordingly.

Robert Blair – I have been a musician of sorts most of my life. I played bass guitar in jazz bands for over 10 years. My live performances consist of a combination of my songs along with numerous jazz and swing standards, both vocal and instrumental.

Join folklorist Jennie Flinspach and local restauranteurs the Novak Family for a conversation about some of the cultural traditions of Linn County and the people who practice them. This open community conversation invites audiences to connect with tradition keeper Matilda Novak and her children about their family history and the authentic Hungarian cuisine that their family has made for many years. Mikel Paul Trio. Wonderful Jazz infused singer/songwriterMikel Paul (pianist) returns to Cellar Cat. This will be a lively and funevening! Joining him will be two of Portland’s finest musicians. Craig Snazelleon Acoustic Bass and the very groovy Dave Averre on Drums. North Albany at Cellar Cat’s new location: the Albany Golf & Event Center.

Join us this September for the Fall Garden Fair, presented by the Oregon State Federation of Garden Clubs, an event that invites visitors of all ages to engage with and learn about gardening in the state of Oregon. Peruse a horticultural and floral showcase to learn more about the plants that grow in our region, learn about beautification projects throughout the state and efforts to preserve pollinators. Find a new addition for your own garden from local nurseries at the plant sale and get hands-on during a live lecture or workshop.
