Albany Civic Theater presents Love, Loss, and What I Wore @ Albany Civic Theater
May 12 @ 7:30 pm
Albany Civic Theater presents Love, Loss, and What I Wore @ Albany Civic Theater | Albany | Oregon | United States

A play of interactive monologues, Love, Loss, and What I Wore covers a lot of territory linked by the common thread of what was worn at key moments in women’s lives. There’s the unfortunate prom dress, the evils of fitting rooms, the inability to find anything in your messy purse, searching for a bridal gown, and the trauma of bra shopping for the first time. The stories are all deeply personal, yet oddly enough, universal. ASL interpretation will be offered at the showing on May 19. On-demand streaming tickets are also available.  Tickets for live shows are $14 for adults and $11 for for under 18, Seniors 60+, US Military and Veterans, and holders of Oregon Trail Cards. For tickets and information visit albanycivic.org.

Cumberland 131st Birthday Celebration @ Cumberland Community Events Center | Albany | Oregon | United States

Celebrate the Cumberland’s 131st birthday! Join the Community Events Center for music, birthday cake and a little bit of history. The steeple has been reinstalled, and the building is one step closer to being fully restored. This event is part of Albany’s celebration of National History Preservation Month.

History of the Cumberland

The Cumberland Church building has been a part of Albany for 130 years. The church was built in 1892 by the Cumberland Presbyterians, a progressive branch of the Presbyterian Church. When it was dedicated on May 5, 1892, it was a rectangular, one room meeting-style church. The building was moved to its new home on the corner of Santiam and Pine on October 17, 2021. The new address is 1400 Santiam Road SE. Once restoration is complete, the Cumberland would offer educational and enrichment programs for children and families, provide a facility for the arts, education, recreation, celebration and locally-based activities, and invite groups, both public and private, to rent the building for events. The City of Scio is excited for this year’s fair – “Counting on Ewe to Join Us”. The theme is very appropriate, as it depicts the partnerships that help make Scio and the surrounding area a great place to live, work and play!
It is their hope that you experience a warm welcome when attending this year’s fair. Fair time allows you an opportunity to gather together and enjoy family and friends, reconvene old traditions and celebrate Scio’s rich family heritage, agricultural history and beautiful natural resources.
