Step into 1850 with them on the second Saturday of each month, from 12 pm to 2 pm, at the Historic Monteith House. Exciting activities like, woodworking, pioneer doll making, baking biscuits, making butter, and so many other family-friendly activities! Each time will be something new, and you’ll learn a little more about this important piece of Albany’s history.

A talk on Civil War Medicine at the Lebanon Public Library by Keith Menk and Ashely Wendell @ Lebanon Public Library

REENACTORS TALK ON CIVIL WAR MEDICINE

Keith Menk and Ashley Wendell, Civil War reenactors, who specialize in happenings within the medical tent, will give a talk on Civil War medicine on Wednesday, April 17, at the Lebanon Public Library. The program will begin at 6:30 p.m. and last for about an hour.

Sponsored by the Lebanon Museum Foundation and the Lebanon Public Library, this program is open to the public and free for all. The library is at 55 Academy Street.

Downtown Albany Restaurant Week returns with more restaurants than ever! From Sunday, April 21, through Saturday, April 27, visit our 30 destinations offering a variety of specials all week!

From breakfast to dinner, dozens of tasty options are sure to please.

Each restaurant will have delicious Restaurant Week specials so it’s easy to spend your week sampling your way through Downtown!

New this year is a passport and prize drawing. You will receive one chance at the drawing for each restaurant you patronize. You can pick up a passport at the Albany Downtown Association or download one online. Passports are also available at many Downtown restaurants. Once you have your passport, look for the Restaurant Week poster in each participating restaurant’s window for the code to add to your passport To download your passport, CLICK HERE!

Times vary with each restaurant, usually their normal hours. Reservations are highly recommended.

National Preservation Month Events- Albany and Benton County @ Albany, Oregon

May is dedicated to National Preservation Month. Also known as Historic Preservation Month, the month celebrates the nation’s heritage through historic places.

Albany is home to four national historic districts and the location of the most varied collection of architectural styles in the state. There are more than 800 historic buildings in three of the districts, dating from the 1840s to the 1950s, and all located within an area of approximately 100 square blocks.

Come and celebrate the heritage of Albany by participating in various events and exploring historic places all month long.

Events will include the Annual Tweed Ride, Walking History Tours, Building Tours, Vintage Bicycle Show, the Hidden History Scavenger Hunt, and more!

Trails Through Time is the theme of National Preservation Month in Benton County.

Many events are available to participate in and learn the history of the area.

Some events require registration, all are free.  For updates, please check THE VISIT CORVALLIS OR ALBANY VISITORS websites.
This event schedule is a collaboration between the Benton County and Corvallis Historic Resources Commissions, the Albany Heritage Commission, and PreservationWORKS.

If you’re visiting from out of town and are attending the Wine Walk AND are a fan of Mrs. Roper – this event is for you.
This is the first appearance of the Mrs. Ropers of Oregon in Historic Downtown Albany.
This will be a rolling stop event; if you’re working late, or have plans to meet your friends.. no worries – join up and leave as you please.  Wear your brightest caftan and orange curly wig if you want!

3:30pm—Albany Carousel for a ride, photo, and then walk together to get wine glasses and tickets.
4:00pm—Corner of 1st Ave. & Ferry, pick up wine glasses, tickets and maps. 
5:15ish—Back to the Corner of 1st Ave. & Ferry to meet up with more Helens and pick up tickets if needed.
Everyone over 21 is welcome to join!

Join this walking tour of 1st Avenue to learn about the history of the buildings and the businesses that have occupied them over the past 150 years. The tour starts promptly at 6 PM and will be approximately 1 hour in length.
While the tour is free, there is a suggested $5 donation per person, to benefit the Monteith Historical Society.

Meet at Burkhart Square (next to the Albany Civic Theater) at the corner of 1st Ave and Lyons St.

This tour is sponsored by The Natty Dresser as part of Albany‘s celebration of National Historic Preservation Month.

Sponsored by Albany Regional Museum in partnership with Riverside Cemetery, the 14th annual History Through Headstones self-guided tour features docents presenting the historical contributions of local medical practitioners. This event is free to attend. Can’t make it on May 22? No worries! Signage will remain up at Riverside Cemetery following this event with QR codes. Once you scan the QR code with your smart phone, you will have access to a narration of the lives of this year’s subjects.
