Explore Albany, Discover your story
Welcome to AVA’s monthly calendar of events. Take a peek and plan your stay-cation or your next visit to our region. The city’s most notable annual events include historic home tours, outdoor summer concerts and movies under the stars, and the Northwest Art and Air Festival.
*Note for event organizers: If you’d like to have your event listed on the AVA calendar, head over to our contact page and submit your event to us.
Join the Albany Carousel for a sensory-friendly ride!
To provide a more accepting and comfortable setting for individuals on the autism spectrum or with sensory sensitivities and their families, we will slow the carousel down to a jog and turn off the organ music.
It’s our hope to provide a fun and inviting space for everyone. So put on your blue and join us!
Support the carousel and create some unforgettable Christmas memories at Breakfast with Santa & Mrs. Claus sponsored by Pacific Power! Tickets are $25 per person and include a completely delicious breakfast, a Christmas carol concert by the South Albany High School Choir, a fun Christmas craft at each table for your family to complete while waiting for Santa, a professional photo of your child’s meeting with Santa by Sarah LaFond Photography, a one-on-one visit with Santa, along with a personalized note from Santa and a gift he picked out! Tickets will be available through Eventbrite beginning 11/15/22 at 9 a.m.
Join Santa at the Carousel every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. until Christmas and during First Friday on December 2nd from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Littles can visit and tell him what they want for Christmas while their adult snags a photo of a precious Christmas memory- all for FREE! While you are here, make sure and grab a hot chocolate at the Carousel Café and take a ride (or two) on the carousel.
Join the Valley’s own symphonic orchestra to hear romantic and familiar music including West Side Story Overture, Romeo and Juliet Overture, and the glorious Beethoven’s 5th Symphony. This would be a great concert to take children to, as the music is melodic and recognizable. There will be a pre-concert talk from our guest conductor at 6:15 p.m. It is a great way to learn more about the program. Tickets are $20/$18 and those under age 18 are free.
