Explore Albany, Discover your story
Welcome to AVA’s monthly calendar of events. Take a peek and plan your stay-cation or your next visit to our region. The city’s most notable annual events include historic home tours, outdoor summer concerts and movies under the stars, and the Northwest Art and Air Festival.
*Note for event organizers: If you’d like to have your event listed on the AVA calendar, head over to our contact page and submit your event to us.
The walking tour will be narrated by members of Friends of Historic Albany and focus on the history of the riverfront from industrial center to recreation and open space and how it was influenced by transportation, from a ferry and riverboats to railroads and trucks.
The tour will be outdoors on public sidewalks and parking lots with uneven surfaces. Unfortunately, the tour is not wheelchair-friendly. COVID regulations will be followed including 6-foot distancing between parties and masks are required. Allow 90 minutes for the event. Starting at Monteith Riverpark (meet at the gazebo), 489 Water Ave. NW.
Registration is required as space is limited 15 participants. There is no cost for the tour. The deadline for registration is 3:00 pm Friday, May 14. To make a reservation, contact the Albany Visitors Association at 541-928-0911. Photo by Stephanie Low.
