The Lebanon Strawberry Festival is a community-wide celebration held each year during the first full weekend in June. The festival started in 1909 as a celebration of the bountiful berry harvests; the strawberry festival continues today as a chance to bring our community together, and to celebrate with pride all of Lebanon’s beauty and friendliness.
The Strawberry Festival is a deeply rooted tradition for so many Lebanon families–dating back for generations, and it has become equally special to see new residents and visitors alike be welcomed to our small community during festival time. As the second longest-running annual festival in the state of Oregon (second only to the Rose Festival in Portland), the Lebanon Strawberry Festival is proudly organized each year by a board of directors comprised entirely of volunteers. Each has his or her own reasons for being passionate about the festival, and each is dedicated to continuing the tradition of bringing this event to our community for many generations to come.
Whether it is watching our Saturday night fireworks display, enjoying a complimentary piece of our World’s Largest Strawberry Shortcake, taking in one of our parades, or just sitting back and relaxing on the lawn to watch some entertainment on our main stage, the Strawberry Festival offers something for everyone, and for every budget. So be sure and mark your calendars each year for the first full weekend in June, and plan on coming out to Cheadle Lake Park and celebrating the Strawberry Festival with us.

Come to the Native American Cultural Encampments summer of 2024, with Deitrich Peters and friends. The public is invited to come learn about Native culture, explore handcrafts and items for sale, watch the Pow-wow style dancing (there is usually one dance where you are invited to participate) and practice traditional skills and crafts. Listen to some beautiful flute playing, enjoy stories, and explore the drum and more. Many different tribes are represented at these gatherings.
SCEC will be there with a table showing Kalapuya Ways items of material culture, and presenting different crafts classes and atlatl throwing. Karen Rainsong, our Executive Director, presents this teaching and may also tell a few Kalapuya stories.
On Sunday mid afternoon there is a big feast where everyone can eat for free. “Indian tacos” are served. No need to RSVP. Please join the fun!

The annual “Cut the Gut” car cruise in Sweet Home, Oregon!

This event is a must-attend for all enthusiasts of hot rods, motorcycles, classics, and muscle cars. The cruise takes place every year on the Friday night of the second weekend of July and attracts car lovers from all over the region.
The “Cut the Gut” car cruise is more than just a celebration of vehicles – it’s a chance for car enthusiasts to come together, share their passion, and enjoy a fun-filled night in the beautiful town of Sweet Home.
This cruise features over 20 checkpoints from one end of Sweet Home to the other. At each stop, participants will have their passports stamped for a chance to win a raffle prize.
Participants are encouraged to bring their best rides to show off, and spectators are encouraged to sit along the route to watch the show. So whether you own a classic car, a hot rod, a motorcycle, a muscle car, or simply like to look at them, this is the night for you!

May is dedicated to National Preservation Month. Also known as Historic Preservation Month, the month celebrates the nation’s heritage through historic places.
Albany is home to four national historic districts and the location of the most varied collection of architectural styles in the state. There are more than 800 historic buildings in three of the districts, dating from the 1840s to the 1950s, and all located within an area of approximately 100 square blocks.
Come and celebrate the heritage of Albany by participating in various events and exploring historic places all month long.
Events will include the Annual Tweed Ride, Walking History Tours, Building Tours, Vintage Bicycle Show, the Hidden History Scavenger Hunt, and more!

Trails Through Time is the theme of National Preservation Month in Benton County.
