Visit the Book Bin in Corvallis on July 16th to help raise funds for the historic Whiteside Theater. 20% of Book Bin sales will be generously donated to The Whiteside Theater.
To celebrate turning 40, The Book Bin will be partnering with community nonprofits: on a set day each month, 20% of sales (in-store, over the phone, and on bookbin.com) will be donated to a partnering organization.
The Corvallis Book Bin was opened by Bob and Maria Baird in 1983. Naomi and Obadiah were two and three years old. The four Bairds plus Obadiah’s wife Kat continue to run The Book Bin 40 years later.
The Book Bin is and has always been committed to Corvallis, to Salem, and to thriving Oregon downtowns.
Whiteside Theatre – Sunday 7/16/23
The Whiteside Theatre Foundation supports a multi-purpose entertainment and events venue in the historic Whiteside Theatre that enhances the economic vitality and cultural diversity of downtown Corvallis for the benefit of the entire community.

2023 Summer Concert Series
Corvallis Central Park, 7:30pm
The Corvallis Community Band presents its Summer Concerts in the Park series each Tuesday evening 7:30-8:30pm from June 20th to August 29th. The concert is free to the public.
This family-friendly series features the Corvallis Community Band. The first concert features Conductor Justin Preece with the theme of Surveying the Sea. The band rehearses from 6:30-7:25pm before each concert and if you wish to join in, bring your band instrument and do so. The concert is from 7:30-8:30pm and is free to the public in front of the gazebo in Central Park in Corvallis. No seats are provided so dress for the weather and bring a blanket or low-backed chairs.

Open Streets returns Sunday, August 20, 2023!
Central Park to Peanut Park, 11 am to 3 pm
Join the community of Corvallis for their 5th annual, free street festival that re-imagines our shared public spaces – streets and parks – as places where people want to walk, bike, and play.
Open Streets features live music, dance, fitness activities, giant-sized games, food and more!
One of the favorite parts of Open Streets is the parade along the route! Local jazz and funk band, DTW, is returning to lead this year’s parade from Central Park to Peanut Park. The parade starts at 11:30 am from Central Park. Anyone can join! We’ll meet at the corner of 8th St and Madison Ave, near the southwest corner of the park, a couple of minutes prior to the start. Look for the parade ambassador!

“Celebrating Our Agricultural Heritage” is the theme of the annual History Through Headstones Tour at Albany’s Riverside Cemetery on Wednesday, July 19. It is sponsored by the Albany Regional Museum and the Riverside Cemetery Board of Directors.
This is the 13th year for the free event where light refreshments will be served from 7 pm to dusk. Visitors can park on either side of 7th Ave. west of Albany General Hospital and can begin their tour at either cemetery entrance.
Eleven people associated with the area’s agricultural community will be featured, including six members of the prolific Jenk’s family.
Here is a list of those to be honored along with the names of the docents who will talk about each one: James Benton Jenks (1833-93) and Mary Callaway Jenks (1838-1919), docent and great-granddaughter Mary Jacque Jenks Burck; Enoch Marvin Jenks (1880-1965) and Elizabeth Moser Jenks (1887-1965), docent and great grandson Tim Jenks; Howard Benton Jenks (1893-1963) and Eunice Luper Jenks (1890-1984), docent and grandson Howard Benton Jenks.
Also being honored are Amos Conrad (1925-94), docent and family friend, Pat Hagerty; Cyrill Koos (1863-1943) and Adele Koos (1864-1936), docent and family member Kathryn Koos-Lee; and John Gale Swatzka (1925-09), docent Darrel Tedisch, Riverside Cemetery Board member.
Concluding the featured subjects are Samuel Hill (1804-54), docent Bill Maddy, ARM member; and Mary Pettibone Buchner (1905-2002), docent and family member Kitty Buchner.

It’s a quick trip to Corvallis to visit the historic Whiteside Theater! The Whiteside hosts a movie every Wednesday at 7 p.m. They also host the Bob Newton Family Movie, a family-friendly 3 p.m. monthly matinee.

The Gothard Sisters are a dynamic supergroup of three American sisters who play contemporary Celtic music. Through over 14 years of performing, touring, and writing music together, the optimistic style of their music and performances continue to resonate with their fans, building a loyal international following.
Their latest album, Dragonfly, features the sisters playing an assortment of acoustic instruments and vocals combined with modern production to create music exploring themes of resilience and adventure. The band’s music is popular among a worldwide audience, and has over 15 million streams on Spotify, with a large social media following and 11.3 million views on youtube.
The Gothard Sisters have performed at performing arts centers, listening rooms, and festivals across the United States, including a show at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium stage in Washington DC, concerts with orchestras and symphonies, performances with Disney Cruise line in Europe, outreach appearances in schools across the United States and two tours in Japan with Min-On Global Music Network, performing over 50 shows there in 2019 and 2022.
Blending Celtic, folk, classical, and new age musical influences, the Gothard Sisters bring songs to life with violin, acoustic guitar, mandolin, bodhran, djembe, whistle, and vocal harmonies, creating music that is “vivid, inspirational and captivating.” (Tim Carroll, Folk Words Review 2018).
Writing and recording near their home in the Pacific Northwest, the band has released 9 albums and has performed over 2,000 live shows over the course of their career.

Corvallis Celtic Festival 2023
Saturday, July 22, all day – All-day event in Central Park and the Corvallis Arts Center.
Saturday starts at 9:30am with a bagpiper’s parade. Then we’ll have a bevy of local and regional Celtic performers and artists in Central Park, the Corvallis Library and The Corvallis Arts Center. Everything from harps and fiddles to bagpipes, flutes, whistles, and singing will be represented. Expect musical performances and workshops, dancing, arts, crafts, and food vendors, children’s activities, whiskey tasting and a relaxed pace Celtic session where new players are very welcome.
The Corvallis Arts Center will transform into Celtic Harp Central from noon-5pm on Saturday. A hands on harp workshop and a performance by Lisa Lynne and Aryeh Frankfurter are part of the program there.
A high energy Celtic session at Squirrels Tavern in downtown Corvallis caps off Saturday’s festivities. This session will run from 9pm to midnight and will be anchored by Portland band Biddy on the Bench. All those 21 and over are welcome to this session.
There will be an outdoor main stage with bands from near and far. Workshops and more intimate performances will be held inside the Corvallis Arts Center and other nearby venues. The day will include Ceili dancing, Celtic arts and crafts, Celtic history and genealogy, and children’s activities. Participatory workshops will include instrument playing, singing, and dancing. The day ends with an after-hours Celtic Session in a downtown Corvallis venue.

Join members of the Sick Town Derby Dames roller derby club on July 22nd for an evening of empowerment, joy and community…. on wheels! All bodies and wheels are welcome, with an emphasis on roller skates.
Come wearing what makes YOU feel empowered and get ready to feel the love of the skating community.
Love the skin you’re in and uplift your friends while you skate a 3-mile loop from the Rotary Pavilion at the south end of Willamette Park, up to the Crystal Lake Sports Fields and back. Revelry, lawn games, and roller dancing continue until dark.
Suggested donation $5.
