The John Fiechter House, also known as Failing Cottage, is is believed to be the oldest house in Benton County. It’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Visitors to the William L. Finley National Wildlife Refuge will be able to visit and tour this historic 1855 pioneer house every Saturday, July 8 through Sept. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and learn the history of one of Benton county’s early families.

The Fiechter House is located on Finley Refuge Road, across from the red Cabell barn. Visitors can also stop in at the refuge’s Nature Store for directions.

Annual Bridges, Bikes & Brews Festival in Scio, Oregon on Saturday, September 9, 2023.

There will be a motorcycle poker run, cornhole tournament, live music, food, vendors, local breweries, and more. Bridges, Bikes and Brews is sponsored by the Scio Event Center Organization to raise funds for a new Fairgrounds and Event Center to be built in or near Scio, Oregon.

The Linn County Lamb and Wool Fairgrounds will be open from 10 A.M. to 10 P.M. with food carts, and other vendors. The beer garden opens at 11:00 and features beverages from the Growler Café in Lebanon. There will be entertainment at the Carol Bates Stage featuring Lane Norberg, Jessie Leigh, and Huckle Buck Highway.

Oregon Flock and Fiber is a weekend filled with classes, demonstrations, livestock shows, and an expansive marketplace with a wide array of fiber goods and accessories.

Admission is FREE!
Workshops will be Friday, Saturday, and Sunday!

The marketplace is open Saturday 9am – 5pm and Sunday 9am – 4pm.

Please join them for a weekend of fiber fun and community.

Iron Water Ranch is proud to host their Fall Fiber Fest this October. This event is for the whole family and includes crafts and classes for all ages. There will be additional vendors offering beautiful fiber art supplies and finished products as well. This is a great event to visit and learn about all the different breeds of sheep they raise.

There will be: Raw fleeces, Dyed locks, Roving, Yarn, Needle felted gifts, Tons of fall and winter decor, Gifts for the holiday season

There will be 3 classes offered taught by Iron Water Shepherds and Audrey of Wee Woollies Fiber Arts.

  • Needle Felting a Pumpkin – Saturday @ Noon – taught by Audrey – great for Beginners and you can make your own decor!
  • Shepherding 101 – Saturday @ 2PM – taught by Zane & Brendan – get answers for your shepherding questions!
  • Spinning IWR Sheep – Sunday @ Noon – taught by Kirsten – go into the winter with fabulous new fiber and learn all about spinning beautiful yarns from the breeds raised there at Iron Water Ranch.

History Bites: The Miracle on First Avenue, the story of the Albany Carousel
Coming up on Wednesday, January 10th at noon.

The Albany Regional Museum will host the founder of the Albany Carousel and co-author of “The Miracle on First Avenue” Wendy Kirbey as she shares the story of one woman’s dream becoming reality. Kirbey along with co-author Jennifer Moody have assembled a wonderful history of how the Albany carousel came to be, from dream to opening. The book also highlights the unique stories of the carousel animals, and the inspiration behind each carving.

The History Bites program is free to attend. Admission to exhibits is now fee based, but always free for members!
