Get ready for some awesome summer fun! On June 22nd, the Albany Summer Passport program will kick off at 2 different sign-up locations!

  1. Visit the Pride Parade: Swing by the Albany Visitors Association booth at the Albany Pride Event between 10 am and 4 pm,  where you can sign up, get your picture taken, and pick up your free passport! We hope to see you there!
    2.  Head to the Albany Visitors Association:  Sign up at the Albany Visitors Association at 122 Ferry St, in downtown Albany from 10 am to 1 pm. We will be ready and waiting to help you sign up and get your passport!

Both places will be filled with fun and excitement, perfect for kicking off your summer adventures with our Summer Passport! Check out our website for more details as we get closer to the big day.

Passports will be available for sign-up throughout the summer, June 22nd, 2024 is the kickoff date for the program. The last day of the program is August 9, one week before the Carousel Carnival. So, no matter if you live here, or are just visiting for a few days – you’re invited to participate. You may come to the AVA Office at any time and pick up a Passport and explore as much as you can during your visit to Albany.

Founded in 1978, the Albany Farmers’ Market is the oldest continuously operated open-air farmers’ market in Oregon. Nestled between Historic Downtown Albany and the beautiful park-like grounds of the Linn County Courthouse, the Albany Farmers’ Market is easy to access by foot, bicycle, car or bus and is just a few blocks from Amtrak at the historic Albany Station.

The Albany Farmers’ Market offers visitors an abundance of fresh, locally sourced food. From ripe, juicy produce to artisanal cheeses and freshly baked bread, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

The market also features the Power of Produce Club, a kids’ program for ages 5-12 that provides hands-on educational activities and promotes healthy eating habits.

Jackson Street Youth Services supports at-risk and homeless youth. You can read more about them here.

 

If you would like to contribute to the sale you can drop things off on Wednesday, June 26th from 8 AM to 6 PM and Thursday, June 27th; from 8 AM to 12 PM.
Please bring clean, gently used items only.
NOT ACCEPTED:  adult clothes, VHS, Cassettes, 3-ring binders, couches, or mattresses.

Native American Cultural Encampment- Roaring River Park, June 29 and 30 @ Roaring River County Park

Native American Cultural Encampment- Roaring River Park, June 29 and 30 @ Roaring River County Park | Scio | Oregon | United States

Come to the Native American Cultural Encampments summer of 2024, with Deitrich Peters and friends. The public is invited to come learn about Native culture, explore handcrafts and items for sale, watch the Pow-wow style dancing (there is usually one dance where you are invited to participate) and practice traditional skills and crafts. Listen to some beautiful flute playing, enjoy stories, explore the drum and more. Many different tribes are represented at these gatherings.

SCEC will be there with a table showing Kalapuya Ways items of material culture, and presenting different crafts classes and atlatl throwing. Karen Rainsong, our Executive Director, presents this teaching and may also tell a few Kalapuya stories.

On Sunday mid-afternoon there is a big feast where everyone can eat for free. No need to RSVP. Please join the fun!

This event is from 10 am – 2 pm on Saturday, 6/29/24.  Judging is at 1 pm.
FREE ADMISSION! Celebrate the 35th-anniversary car show at South Pacific Auto Sales!  In addition to a car show, there will be a coffee cart, food vendors, and more!

Want to enter your car? There is no registration fee, just bring your car the day of. A top car will be picked in each of the following categories:
– Domestic
– Import
– Off-Road
Of those three top cars, one winner will win a handcrafted trophy.
BONUS: The first 100 people to RSVP get a free coffee from Weekend Coffee Roasters coffee cart the day of the event.

Continuing to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Albany General Hospital, Regina Leytem, RN, CPAN, and Kim Sass will team up to offer local stories expressing the ever-changing nursing profession. Individuals from the 1850s to 2024 will be highlighted. Regina has been a nurse for nearly 50 years and currently works in the SAGH peri-operative care unit. Kim is a retired hospital employee and Albany history enthusiast.

History Bites is free to attend. Admission to exhibits is now fee-based, but always free for members!

Light refreshments will be provided.
