Gearing Up for Pollinator Week @ OSU Extension Service office | Eugene | Oregon | United States

The Oregon State University Extension Service in Lane County welcomes the public to Gearing Up for Pollinator Week on June 17, 2023

The classes and activities will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 996 Jefferson Street at the OSU Extension Service office in Eugene.

Gearing Up for Pollinator Week will feature classes and activities led by OSU Master GardenersTM and a guest lecturer from the Xerces Society.

Pollinator Week is an international celebration promoting the valuable ecosystem services provided by bees, birds, butterflies, bats, beetles, moths, wasps, and flies.

Join the OSU Master GardenersTM for a cup of pollinator tea, pollinator treats, classes, and activities to celebrate Pollinator Week!

Schedule:

  • 10-11 am Mason Bees with Shirley Betournay, OSU Master Gardener
  • 11 am-12 pm Gardening for Pollinators – Ernst Schwintzer, OSU Master Gardener
  • 12-1 pm Using iNaturalist to Identify bees, butterflies, flies, and wasps plus Pollinator Bingo
  • 1-2 pm Pollinator Conservation and Home Habitat Assessment – Dave Kollen, Xerces Society Ambassador

Take home bee identification tools, trading cards for kids, and pollinator-friendly plant seeds.

The Albany Arts Commission (AAC) will participate in Albany’s First Friday event in April with its first-ever commission members show.

On First Friday, April 5, 2024, members of the AAC will host a reception at City Hall from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm.

This event is free and open to the public. Come meet your AAC active artist members, enjoy refreshments, view the variety of their work, and learn more about AAC’s mission and goals to support the arts in our community.

The AAC has raised public funds to support ongoing artist receptions for First Friday downtown for the rest of 2024.

Albany is home to four national historic districts and the location of the most varied collection of architectural styles in the state. There are more than 800 historic buildings in three of the districts, dating from the 1840s to the 1950s, and all located within an area of approximately 100 square blocks.

Come and celebrate the heritage of Albany by participating in various events and exploring historic places all month long.

Events will include the Annual Tweed Ride, Walking History Tours, Building Tours, Vintage Bicycle Show, the Hidden History Scavenger Hunt, and more!

They will host a community art show featuring works by over 20 artists for the entire month of May.
